Fellows in the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program receive their clinical training in a number of medical facilities. Baylor College of Medicine has teaching affiliations with several hospitals in the Texas Medical Center—the largest incorporated medical center in the world—as well as alliances with other hospitals in the Houston community.
Each institution makes an important contribution to the overall educational experience, including care of very low birth weight babies and those born with congenital heart disease or conditions requiring surgery.
The BCM-affiliated hospitals deliver more than 30,000 babies per year. Our neonatal intensive care units annually average more than 4,500 admissions. Of these, about 350 are very low birth weight neonates (<1500 g) and 200 have congenital heart disease.
